The Pet Insurance covers accident-related medical expenses, death resulting from injury/accidents, public liability, injury to caretaker/ owner, food poisoning at affordable rates.

Our target audience includes dog owners (foreign/ local), security companies that use security dogs, dog breeders, veterinary service providers, etc.

This is a packaged policy with premiums ranging from GHS 200-Bronze package to GHS 500-Gold package for pets valued between GHS 1500 and GHS 5000. Pets valued above GHS 5,000 will be underwritten separately with an applicable rate of 11%.

Terms & Conditions

  1. All Benefits stated above are payable per insured pet per annum
  2. The Death Benefit payable under the packages are meant for the acquisition of replacement puppies of the same breed insured up to the limit indicated for the respective plan selected
  3. Premium for Platinum Plan shall either a) Rate on Value of Single Pet or b) average value per pet for total no of pets
  4. Highest amount payable under a claim shall not exceed the maximum amount payable when death results under the chosen plan
  5. All Death Injury Disfigurement and Food Poisoning claims are to be certified by a Veterinary Doctor
  6. Medical Expenses cover is for injuries following the occurrence of an insured peril. Medical Expenses related to routine Veterinary Doctor visits are specifically excluded.
  7. Indisposition of Caretaker should be for accidental unforeseen injury (as described under our Personal Accident Insurance policies) and specifically excludes illness. This must be certified by a Medical Doctor (e.g. Excuse Duty)
  8. All Pet Caretakers should be 18 years and above and of sound mind
  9. All mandatory vaccinations as required by law must be complied with
  10. All prescriptions must be complied with.
  11. Public liability claims shall be as a result of the pet having escaped from its confinement within the house or from a leash. This shall however extend to cover the circumstance where the dog has not been confined within the house and the insured accidentally admits a third party into the house. The damaged third party property should also not be within the care custody or control of the insured. This section excludes sleep over visitors and members of the insured’s household
  12. Excess - 5% each and every loss

 

 

Exclusions

  1. Injuries to pets belonging to a single owner resulting from fighting/attacking each other is excluded
    Natural death, death as a result of pre-existing conditions and undetermined cause death is excluded
  2. Pre-existing and non-accidental conditions are specifically excluded
  3. Death as a result of the deliberate actions of the insured, caretaker and the members of the insureds household are specifically excluded
  4. Death as a result of negligence or abandonment is specifically excluded
  5. Claims as a result of illness are specifically excluded
  6. Death from Food Poisoning caused by the ingestion of unwholesome food is excluded. Death resultant from poisoning is excluded. This shall however not include deaths resulting from deliberate poisoning from intruders to the pet’s confinement (fence wall confinement) subject to the provision of a) a Police Report and b) Evidence of forceful entry to or exit from
